Meres Bookstore

Focal point of the design was to emerge deterioration caused by time, while keeping the memory of previous use of the space as a workshop. The layers of colors and texture shaped by time, the nail holes that once supported shelves, the inscriptions on the notes carved or writings on the walls by craftsmen who use to run the space, are all there bearing witness to the past days, consisting a valuable source of inspiration. Design focus on simply conserving the listed property with essential repair works of the roof, adding cement floor, modern lighting and replacing the existing metallic openings. The selected future bookstore's operation is also very discreet, and no construction is fixed or permanent so that the space remains "untouched". After the conservation Meres now operates as a specialized bookstore with publications on architecture, design, art, cooking, travel and other subjects, but also as an area of ​​expression, as it had also begun its new era.
